A Touch of Understanding fits into the disability awareness portion of my life. Educating others about my blindness as I roller blade or shop is often emotionally very draining. Having the A Touch of Understanding team for support is tremendous. Talking with students when we're in the educating frame-of-mind means that I feel as though I'm maximizing my efforts to make my life better. As time goes on, I'm sure I'll add to this. I read the note in 2004's newsletter about Mike showing me his hands, and that too says so much about what A Touch of Understanding means to me. |
